Rooted in Africa,
Connected to the World
At AISA, we believe that strong schools shape a stronger future. That belief has guided us for more than 55 years as we’ve supported international schools across Africa through leadership, professional learning, and a deep sense of community.
From our home in East Africa, AISA brings together educators, school leaders, and partners who are passionate about creating transformative learning environments. We connect global knowledge with African realities—offering research-based training, curated resources, collaborative spaces, and meaningful growth opportunities that reflect the needs of our members.
We don’t see Africa as a challenge to solve, but as a source of inspiration, resilience, and purpose. Its cultures, rhythms, and relationships are woven into how we listen, lead, and learn. AISA is a trusted professional learning community for international schools in Africa.
AISA is a platform for connection, a partner in growth, and a facilitator of change. We walk alongside our schools as true partners designing learning pathways, supporting strategic development, and fostering leadership that is both globally informed and locally grounded.
Together, we’re transforming education in Africa and beyond.
AISA’s story began over 55 years ago. Visit our history page to see how far we’ve come—and where we’re headed.
“Engaging with an international teaching community, absorbing culturally diverse narratives, and exchanging perspectives that broaden my understanding of the true essence of diversity and inclusion.”

Our learning ranges from in-person conferences, summits and professional learning institutes to online workshops and year-round virtual learning opportunities.

To maximize our impact and ensure AISA continues to thrive in service of its mission, we will optimize membership, explore expanded scope, and develop robust systems that ensure our long-term strength and resilience.
AISA is committed to growing in ways that strengthen both our service to members and the resilience of our organization. This includes improving internal systems, clarifying pathways to membership, and exploring partnerships or models that expand our scope and impact. As international education shifts, we are actively adapting, ensuring that AISA remains a trusted, responsive association for international schools across Africa. These growth strategies are designed not for short-term gain, but for long-term alignment with our values and vision.
-
AISA will share stories of impact and ways to further connect and support the mission and vision of the organization through developing systems of communication and opportunities for partnerships and connections.
AISA is more than a service provider; it’s a professional community rooted in trusted relationships, common purpose and shared values. We create spaces—both virtual and in person—where educators and leaders can connect across countries and roles. Through communities of practice, regional events, and peer learning platforms, members engage in meaningful dialogue, share resources, and build long-lasting connections.
