Schools in for Summer!

POSTED: March 28, 2024Category: GeneralBY: AISA P9

Inspiring Teachers is an innovative nonprofit that helps teachers fulfil the promise of education. They design and run programmes that transform teaching and accelerate learning in schools, one of which is their Summer Fellowships, which provide mid-career educators with unique opportunities to experience education in a new context and make a meaningful impact.

During their stay, Inspiring Teachers provides orientation, training and support throughout the program. Fellows are given a suite of materials to support them in their roles. As part of their Fellowship contribution, all accommodation, food, transport, and program-related costs are covered. Fellows are responsible for arranging their own flights to the Fellowship country, as well as ensuring they have the necessary vaccinations, travel insurance and visa for the duration of their trip.

Be part of a team of fellows in 2024 who support teachers and leaders in Uganda or Ghana for one of Inspiring Teachers three-week programmes:

  • 11 June – 2 July
  • 2 July – 23 July
  • 23 July – 13 August

As an Inspiring Teachers Fellow, you can choose to focus on one of two parallel tracks::

  • Foundational Literacy
For primary teachers and middle leaders with experience teaching reading. Fellows who choose this track will co-facilitate training on the Science of Reading and support grade 1-3 teachers to establish an evidence-based teaching routine in their classrooms.
  • Instructional Leadership
For primary or secondary teachers or leaders with a strong interest in teacher development and coaching. Fellows who choose this track will co-deliver training for school leaders on rolling out peer coaching and then support them to establish a weekly professional learning community in their school.

The fellowships have a formal phased programme itinerary, and support and resources are supplied.
