AISA’s programming has always aimed to support the communities around Africa where our schools are located.
The AISA Board has recently approved a new AISA Outreach Programme specifically designed to expand this support significantly. Find out more about these programmes and awards by clicking on the links.

- Support for Khartoum American School (KAS) Local Community
In light of the current turmoil that has enveloped Sudan, we are reaching out to you on behalf of our dedicated and resilient local staff at Khartoum American School. The ongoing unrest has deeply affected them, with their livelihoods threatened and day-to-day lives significantly disrupted. As a community, AISA has always stood united in times of adversity, reaching out to assist those members in desperate need. Today, we appeal to that indomitable spirit of camaraderie and support. Please consider making a donation, however small or large, to aid the KAS local staff in these trying times. Your contributions will provide crucial financial support for them and their families, helping them navigate the current crisis and ensuring they can continue contributing to our school’s vibrant learning environment. Let’s unite to uphold our values of solidarity, empathy, and support and show our colleagues in Sudan that they are not alone in their struggle. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.

- AISA’s Service Learning Programme Awards
The AISA Board established in January 2023 that the STUDENT SERVICE LEADER AWARD shall be named and funded in memory of Connie Buford, a distinguished international education leader who served as AISA’s Executive Director from 1988 to 1997. Her love of Africa, her enthusiasm for building community, lifting up and helping others, and her passion for student service learning live on in this award.
This award is for a student service leader who is able to demonstrate a commitment to his/her/their community and to using critical thinking, empathy and principles of sustainable development to engage with a community-based issue or need. The school will allocate this funding to support and sustain the awarded community project.
