Purpose of the role

the purpose of the role is to develop students' reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills through the study of literature, composition, and language. The teacher fosters a love for reading and effective communication while preparing students for academic success, career readiness, and lifelong learning.

 

 

Main Duties/Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Duties

Lesson Planning and Delivery

  • Design lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and biblical principles.
  • Teach a variety of English subjects, including literature, composition, grammar, vocabulary, and public speaking.
  • Utilize diverse instructional strategies, including group discussions, multimedia tools, and hands-on activities.

Faith Integration

  • Incorporate biblical teachings and Christian worldview into English lessons.
  • Guide students in analyzing literary works through a faith-based lens.
  • Foster discussions on moral and ethical themes within literature from a Christian perspective.

Student Assessment and Evaluation

  • Assign, grade, and provide feedback on essays, reports, tests, and projects.
  • Monitor and document student progress, identifying areas for growth and offering individualized support.
  • Prepare students for standardized assessments and college readiness.

Classroom Management

  1. Create a positive, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom culture.
  2. Establish clear expectations for student behavior and academic integrity.
  3. Use biblical principles to address conflicts and behavioral challenges.

Spiritual Leadership

  1. Model Christian character and values in and out of the classroom.
  2. Lead or participate in devotional activities, prayer, and chapel services.
  3. Encourage students to develop their faith alongside their academic skills.

Collaboration and Professional Development

  1. Work with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and strengthen the overall curriculum.
  2. Participate in staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school events.
  3. Communicate regularly with parents about students' academic and spiritual progress.

  1. Expertise in English literature, composition, grammar, and teaching pedagogy.
  2. Ability to inspire students to appreciate literature and improve their writing skills.
  3. Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
  4. Proficiency in using technology to enhance learning.
Previous Experience & Qualifications

Experience

  • Prior experience teaching English at the high school level.
  • Familiarity with integrating a biblical worldview into academic subjects.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, English Education, or a related field.
  • Certification in secondary education preferred.
  • Teaching credential(State and or ACSI)
  • Teaching Licence(International)
  • Any additional coursework or training in Christian education is a plus.
