Over the past 50 years, as families have become more globally mobile, there has been a growing demand for international schools to accommodate students with diverse learning needs.
AISA believes that supporting students, including students with disabilities, to engage in education is essential for young people to thrive and realise their potential. Driven by this belief, we are committed to supporting member schools in realising every student’s potential regarding educational achievement, wellbeing, and inclusive engagement in their school community.
Next Frontier Inclusion defines an international school as inclusive when,
(The school) has intentionally decided to develop diverse student and faculty populations that reflect society, including multilingual learners and students with diverse learning profiles. These schools take a systems approach to building capacity amongst stakeholders, offering universal design for access to all aspects of school life.
AISA’s Wellbeing for All programme will support our member schools as they seek to grow and expand their journey toward inclusion. This includes targeted learning events and opportunities to network and share resources.
AISA offers a face-to-face and online opportunity to ensure members access appropriate learning for their regional context.
This academic year, AISA is providing several opportunities for members to support learners with diverse needs:
AISA has established several online community groups to help our members get connected, collaborate, and learn. The Student Support and Inclusion Group is for those working in or interested in learning more about supporting students with diverse learning needs.
