Supporting Transitions: How to Support Your School Community

Date: September 3, 2020

Moving abroad is a challenge and can be very difficult under any circumstance. However, at the moment, we are all facing a challenge that we couldn’t have anticipated – COVID-19. This webinar discusses the issue of transitions and how schools can support staff and students as they transition back to school –whatever form this takes.

What, if anything, can schools do to support their community who is still on the move, even in the face of a global pandemic?

Key Questions

  1. Why is it so important to support your school community through transitions and how has COVID impacted our ability to do this?
  2. How can schools say good-bye and hello – particularly given the challenges posed by COVID-19?
  3. How can we support people in transition pack and unpack the emotional baggage that can be associated with a big move?
  4. How can we help staff and students process the grief and loss that may be associated with transitions – especially now?
  5. What are some other tips for staying sane if you are in transition right now (eg. Staying connected to loved ones, keeping up routines, etc.)?
  6. How can we better manage our anxieties and fears about moving – particularly given that we are living through a global pandemic?
