Safeguarding Leads Reflective Supervision
The DSL role within international schools has distinct differences from the role in the U.K. Contrary to the misconception that a DSL is solely concerned with student welfare, the role is intricate and multifaceted. International school DSLs have unique challenges compared to counterparts in the UK.
DEIB Initiatives:
A key priority right now is addressing the safeguarding challenges faced by students of colour. We are collaborating with international schools to assess and improve their recruitment processes and safeguarding policies, ensuring that these practices are inclusive, equitable, and supportive of all students.
Parent Coaching:
We offer coaching groups tailored to parents of young children or teenagers, particularly those living abroad. These sessions focus on the unique challenges parents encounter while raising children outside of their home countries, where they may lack established social networks and community support. Our coaching aims to empower parents with strategies to navigate these challenges and foster positive, supportive environments for their children.
The Association of International Schools in Africa is dedicated to serving its members throughout Africa. Please let us know if you require additional or specific information, resources and or support, and we will endeavour to assist you as soon as possible.
