Introducing the 9ine Tech and Privacy Academies

POSTED: September 20, 2021Category: Articles, News, Associate UpdatesBY: Steve

Welcome to the 9ine Tech and Privacy Academies!

As a leading independent technology, data protection and cyber security consultancy for Education, 9ine supports independent, state-funded and international schools to meet their risk and compliance requirements. Our significant investment in research and development ensures that we are leading the conversation on the management of technology and data protection in schools to reduce IT-related barriers to learning and advance your data protection programme.

9ine is recognised globally and trusted by schools worldwide to assist them in their journey towards data privacy compliance. 9ine is in partnership with organisations that represent almost 5000 schools, across 120 countries, meaning that 9ine is ensuring schools are able to protect around 2 million students worldwide!

There has been an increasing number of cyber attacks in 2020/2021, especially ransomware attacks. In June 2021, over 64% of all reported enterprise malware encounters across all industries involved organisations in the education sector. Alongside this, 9ine has found that there is a lack of professional training in the areas of data protection and IT security hardening, meaning schools are not adequately equipped to protect against the heightened risk of system compromisation.

In response, 9ine has created the 9ine Privacy Academy and the 9ine Technical Academy for data protection and IT professionals, giving them applicable, instructional, and expert training in these areas. In completing these courses, schools will be better equipped to protect the members of their community from the increase in cyber attacks in recent years.

The 9ine Privacy Academy is for data protection professionals in schools. 9ine has developed a training programme for education privacy teams to attend, learn, and leave with an instructional understanding of how to embed a culture of privacy in their school. This ensures that education privacy teams are aware of their responsibilities, and they can delegate tasks and training to other members of staff.

The 9ine Tech Academy is a training programme for tech teams to attend, learn, and leave with an instructional understanding of how to improve cyber security and IT systems operational performance at their school. This, in turn, allows your team to protect against cyber attacks and system compromisation in an instructional manner. By understanding the applicable procedures that are covered in this training course, schools can rest assured that all vulnerabilities in their systems can be identified and hardened, thus protecting the personal and sensitive data that is stored within them.
