The AISA community congratulates Kennedy Wando for his appointment to the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers (NAMIR). NAMIR Ltd. was formed in 1993 to provide a dedicated craft association for the profession of musical instrument repair.

Kennedy Wando is the Arts Centre Assistant & Musical Instruments Technician at the International School of Kenya (ISK). He pursued an online course for musical instrument repair in 2014 by the Colorado Institute Of Musical Instrument Technology (CIOMIT) and was certified as a Musical Instrument Technician in July 2015.

Kennedy became a member of NAMIR in 2016 where he was able to network with colleagues from across the globe. In partnership with AISA and with support from Jodi Lake, previously the Director of Teaching and Learning at ISK; Kennedy had an opportunity to coordinate a Musical Instrument Repair Workshop in 2017. The learning institute which took place at ISK was facilitated by Dr Daniel Parker, the former President of CIOMIT.

I am humbled to serve as a committee member for NAMIR Ltd and grateful for the support from the leadership teams at ISK throughout my journey to becoming a Certified Musical Instrument Technician.
My commitment as a NAMIR committee member is to encourage international schools in Africa to continue organizing musical instrument repair clinics for teachers and students as well as encourage collaboration that can empower them to advanced their careers and lives.” – Kennedy Wando
