Dear AISA Members,
It has been an incredibly dynamic and fulfilling first quarter of 2024 for the Association of International Schools in Africa. We’ve experienced a blend of inspiring achievements and unexpected challenges, all while remaining steadfast in our commitment to serving our member schools.
A Quarter of Achievement and Growth February’s AISA GISS conference in Kampala was a resounding success, filled with insightful presentations and valuable networking opportunities. Following that, the AISA Board convened for a strategic planning retreat, also in Kampala, where we solidified exciting strategic directions that build upon the strong foundation and exceptional services AISA is known for.
As always, our Professional Learning Institutes and virtual workshops continue to provide accessible, high-quality professional development. We are particularly grateful for the expertise of our presenters and the collaborative spirit of our members, who learn so much from one another.
My visits to AISA member schools, as my schedule permits, have been a true highlight. Witnessing the innovative, student-centered teaching and learning firsthand is a constant source of inspiration. AISA schools truly are incredible engines of student achievement.
Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating the AISA School Heads Summit here in Nairobi in May, along with a series of excellent virtual workshops and summits listed further down in this newsletter.
Responding to the Evolving Educational Landscape: While this quarter has been filled with positive momentum, we also acknowledge the evolving educational landscape and the unexpected changes that have impacted some of our member families. We recognize that recent shifts have necessitated adjustments for some families within our schools, with some needing to repatriate to their home countries. Our counselors responded swiftly and impressively, offering webinars with practical, research-based tips for providing transition care to these students and their families. Their dedication to supporting our students and families is deeply appreciated.
Refining Member Connections and Updating Resources: As AISA moves forward with its strategic plan, we are reassessing how we facilitate member connections, ensuring we serve our entire community effectively. Connection and community are fundamental to AISA, and we are committed to providing accessible opportunities for engagement. Simultaneously, we are updating our website to enhance its functionality and user experience. During this revision process, some of our publications may be temporarily inaccessible. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve our online resources.
We are excited about the remainder of the year and look forward to continuing to serve you and your schools.
