AISA, in collaboration with the American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ), will host a virtual AISA-GISS student conference from Friday 07 – Saturday 08 May 2021.
Traditionally AISA-GISS is a 3-day event hosted by an AISA member school where student delegates are motivated and encouraged to discuss, explore and strategize over how to solve local and global issues. This conference has become a highlight for many of the AISA member schools as service and action is a pivotal and important element of education within our schools.
AISA-GISS encourages students from across Africa to present as well as learn alongside peers through sharing positive stories of service engagement, student-driven projects and working with a lens of connecting communities through addressing local and global issues. In a typical year, attendees would also spend time working together on a hands-on project within the host’s local community. These changemakers would come away from the summit, inspired and motivated to continue being the change in their own schools and communities. We would like to see this tradition continue through a virtual platform in 2021.
This year’s AISA-GISS will have the theme of ‘CHANGE’ which will be the guiding principle to support the structuring of the topics, presentations and guest speakers. The two half-days over a Friday and Saturday will be action-packed with presentation opportunities from the participating schools and special guests.
Students and Service Learning Administrators from AISA member schools will be invited to register their participation in mid-March 2021.
The Association of International Schools in Africa is dedicated to serving its members throughout Africa. Please let us know if you require additional or specific information, resources and or support, and we will endeavour to assist you as soon as possible.
