Conference Day Workshop

Facilitator

  • Vivien Brelsford, Operations and Finance Manager

    Vientiane International School
With 20 years experience in international schools in Africa and Asia, I am currently working in the Vientiane International School in Laos where I have been instrumental in developing the school's focus on Wellbeing@VIS over the last two years, largely in response to the impact that the pandemic is having on both student and staff mental health. VIS has recently been approved by CIS/WASC to be the first school to seek reaccreditation by undertaking a "deep dive" into the Wellbeing Domain.

Wellbeing and Accreditation: One School’s Journey

The session will describe how we developed our Strategic Framework for Wellbeing@VIS covering Curriculum, Culture, Compliance and Conversations around the four pillars of Wellness, Child Safeguarding, Data Protection and Health and Safety; where we are now; and how this work is being translated into projects to meet the reaccreditation requirements.

Participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences and explore ideas that they can take back to their own schools.

Learning Objectives

  • Understanding the difference between Wellbeing and Wellness.
  • Understanding why the four pillars of Wellbeing need to be addressed as a whole.
  • Understanding how small changes can have a significant impact.

Target Audience

School Leadership and Counselors
