We spend so much time sitting and working at our computers, which can result in tight hips and lower back pain. In this class, we’ll explore some fundamental yin yoga poses that target the hips and lower back, helping you get stretched out so you can enjoy all of the online learning you can during this AISA virtual conference.
Yin yoga is a slow type of yoga where you hold poses for 3-5 minutes, allowing the joints and connective tissue to relax and slowly release. If you’re a runner or cyclist, your hips will thank you for taking the time to stretch. And if you sit a lot at your desk, your hips will also be so grateful for this session.
All poses in this relaxed yin yoga session will target the hips and lower back, and we’ll also engage in deep breathing and visualization to relax your mind and body. All you need to participate is a yoga mat and comfortable clothing. A quiet place to roll out your yoga mat is ideal, and if you have a yoga block or two, you might want to have those handy. If you don’t have a yoga block, you could have a few big towels or a blanket on hand to use as a prop.
At the end of this session, your hips and back should feel more open and free of tension, and you should feel focused for the rest of your day.
