How to use assessment data to improve student learning outcomes

As educators, we provide a curriculum to support and guide our teaching and learning. Teachers collect evidence and data to assist them in making informed decisions about the next steps they will take to achieve improved student learning outcomes.

  • In this workshop, ACER will present strategies that can support teachers to use evidence and data to build their learning capacities to:
  • Identify what knowledge and skills do their students need
  • Know what knowledge and skills do their teachers need
  • Deepen professional knowledge-based upon students starting points and the evidence teachers collect
  • Engage students in new learning experiences reflecting their strengths, weaknesses, and gaps
  • Identify the impacts of their teaching

This session will provide examples of how teachers can generate and interrogate online assessments to assist educators in using data and evidence to improve the learning outcomes of their students.

Learning Objectives

  • Discover different ways of thinking about assessment.
  • Gain new strategies for interpreting assessment data and implementing insights at both the classroom and school levels.
  • Deepen an understanding of learning growth.
