The AISA Service Learning Design Team has designed a new Service Learning Self-Assessment Tool to help AISA-member schools assess and evaluate their service learning programs and learning experiences. The tool is based o‌n 9 key benchmarks, and how to evaluate these to see if your service learning program is at a beginning, developing, accomplished or exemplary stage. Based o‌n your assessment, you and your team can make goals to grow and develop your service learning program in purposeful and critical ways.

The 9 key benchmarks are:

• mission and vision
• curricular integration
•  professional development
• community engagement
• student leadership
• host country appreciation
• sustainability
• DEIJ connections
• storytelling
