TRANSFORMING COMMUNITIES THROUGH DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

POSTED: March 9, 2023Category: Showcased AssociateBY: AISA P9

“Diversity is about all of us and about us having to figure out how to walk through this world together.” – Jacqueline Woodson, American Author.

Promoting inclusion, justice and sustainability in a digitally driven world is vital for current generations and future generations to thrive.

Founded by award-winning Advanced Skills Teacher and Harvard author Nic Ponsford, the Global Equity Collective is a community of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) change-makers doing just that.

In addition to their work as a collective, the GEC launched the world’s first diversity and inclusion cloud-based analytical tool for schools and educational organisations, The GEC Platform. This app or digital platform exists to improve Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) at an individual, organisational and systemic level in international schools.

Currently used in over 20 countries, the GEC Platform enables schools and colleges to assess their internal performance on diversity, equality and inclusion. School and DEIJ leaders can then use this data for experiences and initiatives that respond to the concerns and issues in each unique context.

As part of AISA’s Wellbeing for All programme, AISA recently partnered with the GEC and their platform to create authentic policies, programmes, and procedures for improving Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ).

Since its inception, the GEC has won and been nominated for multiple awards and honours. In 2022, GEC won the Rising Star Award for Education from We Are The City and the Edtech50 Most Innovative UK Educational Technology Firms Award from Business Cloud. The GEC is also a finalist for Innovator of the Year Award from the BETT Awards 2023 and the DEI Platform of the Year Award from Women in IT 2023. Watch this space!
