Of late, many of the conversations we are having with school leaders both here in Africa and around the world have focused on how challenging it is to create authentic policies, programmes, and procedures for improving Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) at an individual, organisational and systemic level in our international schools.
In response to this need, and as part of AISA’s Wellbeing for All programme, AISA has established a partnership with the Global Equality Collective (GEC) whose innovative GEC App is designed to give schools the critical data they need to assess their internal performance on diversity, equality and inclusion. The GEC App, the world’s first diversity and inclusion app for schools and businesses, is a self-assessment platform that enables schools to access their performance at a school-wide and individual level. This powerful data can then be used by school leadership and DEIJ leaders to design initiatives that respond to the concerns and issues of their unique context.
AISA is grateful to have secured funding from our learning partner, Search Associates, who will fund a pilot in the AISA region. The key aim of the pilot, involving 10 schools of varying sizes across our region, is to assess the efficacy of the GEC App in an international school context. Learnings from the pilot will then be used to roll out this opportunity to all member schools.
AISA is hopeful that GEC App will provide a powerful motivator for schools in their commitment to increasing the lived experience of diversity, equity and inclusion in all our school communities.
