Newsela: Engaging Content, Leveled Reading and Assessments for Every Grade

POSTED: November 27, 2020Category: News, Associate UpdatesBY: AISA P9

As a new AISA Strategic Partner, Newsela is dedicated to working with your school on providing fresh, engaging differentiated reading content from the most trusted sources. Their online instructional content platform covers all grades and core subjects, and includes valuable tools for real-time assessment. Newsela recently hosted a Learning Partner Presents Workshop at AISA’s annual conference on 14 November–click here to see their demonstration with features and benefits.

Seven AISA schools are currently licensed with Newsela, and many more are using the free version of their platform, which offers a sampling of their total content. As Moira Henderson, grade 5 teacher of Harare International School says, “Newsela helped myself and the students track progress, differentiate and feel empowered in our learning. As a school we saw a marked improvement in the students’ MAP scores for informational text after adding Newsela into our everyday instructional use.”

For the 2020-2021 school year, Newsela is offering AISA schools a 10% discount on their standard annual comprehensive licenses, as well as deeper discounts for schools interested in their adoption success programme for full content access from now through June with agreement by mid-December.
