The School of Noise aims is to provide creative and imaginative activities using sound in accessible, fun and educational ways.
The School of Noise runs online and offline workshops for children, young people and adults encouraging the exploration of music and the science of sound. Founded in 2015 by musician and author Dan Mayfield, the School of Noise has travelled around the world delivering fun, engaging and educational activities in schools, museums, festivals, art centres and hospitals.
Our sound workshops cover:
“The School of Noise is one of those ideas that you just KNOW is right: bringing back a sense of wonder & accessibility to music-making. Music is organised noise and organising noise is fun!”
— Jarvis Cocker (Musician)
The School of Noise supports students to learn more about the science of sound and music. Lessons are delivered online and blend online interaction with classroom-based activities. Sound is such an incredibly broad subject, and can expand into many other topics including architecture, medicine, sound design, acoustic ecology, engineering, and music. The School of Noise aims to take participants on a journey exploring these different areas.
