Professional biography

Estelle Baroung Hughes is the secondary principal at the International School of Dakar and the director of the NGO Africa Learning International (ALI) focuses on SDG 4 (Quality Education for All) and Education for Peace. ALI trains teachers, engages students in reflective competitions and organizes conferences in Africa to make a difference in teaching and learning on the continent. Estelle is also creative: she writes musicals for schools and performs as a singer to support causes dear to her heart. Last but not least, Estelle leads DEIJ trainings titled TWICE (Teaching With Inclusion and Culture Embedded) for international schools with peace building and ubuntu as the ultimate end goal. As a Cameroonian citizen, Estelle is passionate about the cultural wealth of her 250 languages country and developing intercultural literacy in education.
