Self-care: Stories and Strategies to Create More Time for your Wellbeing

The aim of this session is for teachers to learn new strategies and habits designed to help them focus on their own well-being.

“I am tired.” “I need more balance in my life.”  I can’t get another thing done”. “I wish I had more time to do that”. Burnout and exhaustion are real and impact teachers at alarming rates. Now more than ever, teachers must employ strategies to take care of themselves and balance their workload.

This session will emphasize strategies to help teachers identify the most important tasks and maximize their time. Specific content will focus on the importance of creating systems and habits that allow teachers more time to focus on their own well-being.

The aim of this session is for teachers to learn new strategies and habits designed to help them focus on their own well-being.

As a result of participating at this institute, attendees can expect to:

  • Identify personal sources of burnout
  • List resources to assist in their pursuit of being balanced and productive
  • Discuss organizational and productivity strategies to guide their work-life balance decision-making process

    University of Kentucky
    Professor

    Dr Aaron Beighle is an internationally recognized scholar of physical education and school-based physical activity promotion at the University of Kentucky. Beighle regularly collaborates with schools and organizations interested in maximizing the role of physical education and physical activity to create an active culture for well-being. He presents both nationally and internationally on strategies for extending the impact of movement to address the physical, mental, cognitive and social needs of students as well as school communities.

    Aaron has written more than 100 research-based and practical articles as well as six books, most notably Dynamic Physical Education for Elementary School Children 19e. Aaron recently contributed to making the widely used lesson plans for this book available via dynamicpeasap.com.

    Beighle holds a steadfast commitment to helping physical education programs and schools guide ALL students on a journey that makes physical activity a meaningful part of their lives.
