Description

For anyone involved in service learning, co-curricular service, and global citizenship education, building inclusive and reciprocal community partnerships is key. But often busy educators, service learning coordinators, and International Baccalaureate CAS (Creativity/Action/Service) and Service as Action coordinators wonder how to build a deep meaningful partnership or how to evaluate existing partnerships to deepen impact for both student learners and community partners.

This 6-week course will provide participants with the thinking frameworks, resources, and strategies needed to evaluate a program or partnership, as well as take those existing or new partnerships to the next level, a level that honours educational objectives as well as the assets and needs of community partners.

As a result of attending this course, participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate & redesign existing community partnerships in regard to their reciprocal, inclusive, and sustainable foundations
  • Design new community partnerships that align with critical and sustainable principles for service learning and global citizenship
  • Explore models of community mapping and analysis of community assets and needs
  • Consider the role of student leadership, voice, and agency in creating and sustaining community partnerships
  • Experience active and deep listening protocols and learn how to use these with community partners
  • Create a community impact strategy
  • Use storytelling strategies to celebrate and honour successes in the realm of service learning and community engagement

Target Audience:

AISA service-learning educators, particularly service learning co-ordinators, CAS coordinators, curriculum coordinators, and global citizenship coordinators

The course is normally priced at USD $598. For AISA members in this special cohort, the course will be offered for USD $498.
