Description

Aligning Our Practice in the Single Subjects is designed to empower educators to develop an understanding of concept-based teaching and learning.

This PLI emphasizes the importance of designing inclusive assessments, ensuring that they are tailored to the diverse learning needs and abilities of all students. Participants will engage in creating and designing learning experiences and assessments that will support measuring student progress and using data to inform instruction.

Additionally, participants will explore multiple strategies for differentiating instruction, empowering them to adapt their approach to support every learner, regardless of their skill level or background.

This PLI is particularly valuable for single-subject teachers who seek to create an engaging, supportive, and equitable learning environment.

Throughout the two-day session, participants will have multiple opportunities to collaborate with other colleagues on a variety of topics that can promote lifelong learning across their discipline.

This PLI aims to enhance educators’ ability to foster an inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environment in single subjects such as PE, music, the arts, and language. It also enables educators to come together and learn how to promote social and emotional well-being in our classrooms.

As a result of participating at this institute, attendees can expect to:

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of concept-based teaching and learning
  • Design inclusive assessments that accommodate diverse learning needs
  • Develop and implement strategies to differentiate instruction, ensuring all learners are supported and challenged
