Description

REGISTRATION FOR THIS DEEP DIVE SESSION IS NOW CLOSED

In this deep dive, we will explore best practices in the teaching of world languages with a focus on ways to make language learning both effective and fun for all students! We will discuss high-leverage teaching practices, comprehensible input techniques, and research-based strategies for successful student learning.

We will learn how to leverage digital tools, authentic cultural materials, and communicative tasks to support language learning for students of all proficiency levels. Participants will design and develop their own thematic units with accompanying performance assessments for use in their own classes. We will also learn from each other, as there will be opportunities for sharing tips and tricks, as well as the curriculum resources we create and curate.

This is an opportunity for language educators to learn from and alongside other professionals in an atmosphere of growth and the joy of learning languages!

As a result of attending this deep dive, participants will:

  • be exposed to best practices and methodologies in language teaching & learning;
  • benefit from insights from peers who practice in similar settings;
  • utilize practical tips and tactics that can be applied to their classes;
  • design and develop sample lesson and curricular plans for use in their home schools;
  • network with colleagues from across Africa in a friendly and scholarly setting.

The AISA online Deep Dives are a balanced mix of Synchronous (interactive online learning involving external expert and peer to peer collaboration) and Asynchronous (distance, self-paced and peer-to-peer learning) learning facilitated over a period of 5 weeks.
