As a result of participating at this institute, attendees can expect to:

  • Collaborate and network with healthcare professionals from around Africa to create personal action plans that support policy, procedure and documentation development/advancement in a culturally relevant context.
  • Expand assessment, pandemic and emergency management skills.
  • Develop strategies and resources to maintain physical, emotional and mental well-being amidst the demanding nature of medical roles. Network and develop support systems that may sustain beyond this institute.
  • Cultivate cross-cultural competence in healthcare by promoting sensitivity and respect for diverse cultural beliefs, practices and preferences within the school community.

Visa & Health

  • Travellers will need a valid visa (unless exempted) and a valid passport to enter Ethiopia. Before travelling, visitors must obtain a visa from the official Ethiopian e-visa platform or from their nearest Ethiopian Embassy.
  • A valid Yellow Fever Certificate is required if you are travelling from from a country where Yellow Fever is endemic

    Krista Haley, is a caring, passionate and visionary leader dedicated to providing culturally relevant care and wellbeing in international school health. With over 26 years of nursing practice, she has been a CPR and First Aid instructor, clinical educator, and director of Clinical Quality Assurance, while also working in cardiac care, electrophysiology, step-down units, psychiatric care, medical-surgical and community health.

    Since moving to Ethiopia in 2015, Krista has focused on providing medical education and care in remote areas, and public speaking, then joined the International Community School of Addis Ababa team as the Chief Medical Officer and Designated Safeguarding Lead in 2020. In addition to currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer and a member of the safeguarding team at ICS during business hours, she serves globally as the founder of Impact Global Health during her free time. She aims to inspire others to achieve their personal and professional aspirations and to strive within their cultural context.
