This interactive two-day retreat will include opportunities to learn about up-to-date and trending HR best practices in international schools worldwide and to allow AISA colleagues to share ideas and offer solutions to current issues and concerns.

The event will be insightful, thought-provoking, reflective, full of top tips and ideas – and definitely fun!

As a result of participating in this institute, attendees can expect to learn to:

  • Hear about some best HR practices currently practised globally in international schools
  • Consider HR questions and concerns directly relevant to AISA schools and the African context
  • Reconnect the HR community across the AISA network, establishing new contacts and sharing ideas

Target Audience: HR Managers and those aiming to move into HR management in AISA schools

The registration fees for AISA schools are stipulated below. The registration deadline is Wed. 19 April 2023.

VISA

You will need a valid visa (unless exempted) and a valid travel document to enter Ethiopia. Visitors must obtain a visa from the official Ethiopian e-visa platform or from their nearest Ethiopian Embassy before travelling.

HEALTH

A valid certification of vaccination for Yellow Fever is required if you are coming from a country where Yellow Fever is present.

Passengers aged 12 and over who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 more than two weeks before the date of entry are required to show evidence of this. Accepted vaccinations are a single dose of Johnson and Johnson, or two doses for Astra-Zeneca, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Moderna and Pfizer.

If you’re not fully vaccinated, you’ll need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 RT PCR test result issued within 72 hours (3 days) before departure, or a rapid lateral flow test up to 24 hours before arriving in Ethiopia.

Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa: US$ 225 per night single occupancy; Bed & Breakfast

Elgel Hotel & Spa: US$ 50 per night single occupancy; Bed & Breakfast

Monarch Parkview Hotel: US$ 50 per night single occupancy; Bed & Breakfast

Victoria Guesthouse: US$ 90 – US$ 120 per night single occupancy; Bed & Breakfast

  • Book directly with the hotel and request the corporate rate for ICS Addis.
  • You can also book your airport transfers with the hotel. The cost of the transfer should be included in the accommodation rate, however, please confirm with the hotel.
  • ICS Addis will provide a shuttle in the morning and a return trip in the evening for participants staying at all the hotels listed above.
  • Transportation to and from ICS Addis and other alternative hotels/guesthouses (not listed above) will be the responsibility of the participant.

    Carole describes herself as an ‘internationalized Brit’. Her overseas teaching experience began in 1990 and she has more than twenty years in leadership roles in a range of accredited international schools in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the USA. Carole has worked within different systems with a range of curricula, including bilingual immersion and dual language programmes.

    Her recent professional work with one of the leading international accreditation agencies adds to her global breadth of knowledge and understanding that allows her to offer in-depth guidance and support to a broad range of schools and individuals through her independent consultancy.

    Key areas of interest and expertise include human resources, governance and leadership and school operations including health, safety and safeguarding. Carole also conducts quality assurance audits for schools across all aspects of school life as they prepare for accreditation.
