The aim of this learning event is to understand the principles of effective school governance and develop the capacity for international school leaders (Heads of Schools and their Board Chairs) to guide the learning and work of their own boards.
The AISA Good Governance Programme is supported by the Office of Overseas Schools and based on the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) Good Governance Project. It is an interactive programme starting with an onsite institute and then moving online to support the implementation of change at school.
The goal of the programme is to impart a deeper understanding of the role of a board and board members as well as their responsibilities based on the three modes of governance (fiduciary, strategic and generative).
A school is an organization of learning and establishing a learning board will lead to greater engagement and deeper generative discussions with the end result being strategic thinking that results in the implementation of the mission.
During the programme, participants will explore:
The objectives of the institute will be achieved through practical strategies for implementing the three modes of governance through examples, case studies and interactive learning opportunities to leverage the experience of the participants. Participants will be engaged in developing their capacity as Board Chair and Head of School to lead effective governance in their own school context.
AISA encourages the Head of School and Board Chair to attend together.
Information on registration and travel arrangements will be provided in the next few weeks. Please review this page at a later date for updates.
