Description

In every workplace, there are challenges when people of differing, often opposite behavioral styles work in close collaboration. These challenges are exacerbated when we add working with those who come from significantly different cultures with different languages and norms.

This program will explore the concept of DISC behavioral style and how attendees can recognize their DISC styles, recognize the DISC styles of others, and how they can adjust their own style to accommodate the preferences of those they work with.

Building on this foundation, this program will explore the differing cultural and professional norms that assistants and school administrators hold and will explore strategies for managing requests, making promises, managing those promises and establishing clear communication to improve both collaboration and trust.

This program is suitable for any administrative professionals working in home country to support foreign staff who have different behavioral styles and come from countries with significantly differing cultural norms and expectations.

The aim of this event is to assist Executive and Admin Assistants in their understanding of the professional, cultural and behavioural needs of the administrators that they support and how they differ from their own behavioural and cultural norms and to provide participants with techniques and skills to bridge those differences with the goal of creating a strong, collaborative working relationship.

As a result of participating at this institute, attendees can expect to:

  • Learn to recognize the cultural, professional and behavioral needs of the school leader whom they support.
  • Recognize their own cultural, professional, and cultural preferences and how they differ from those of their administrator.
  • Develop skills, techniques, observances and strategies for working effectively with those whom they support.
  • Understand the behavioral science of DISC and how it shows up in their personal and professional lives.
  • Understand the structure of making and managing requests and promises so that trust can be strengthened and/or restored.
  • Engage in meaningful conversation with their peers on similar, shared challenges and strategies for resolving/improving their challenges.

Target Audience: This program is suitable for any administrative professionals working in their home country to support foreign staff who have different behavioural styles and come from countries with significantly differing cultural norms and expectations.
