In this role you will provide an excellent, Christ-centered international education that meets western academic standards and equip students to live out a biblical worldview in all areas of life to the glory of God.
The Teacher Trainer reports directly to the Senior School Principal while working in close communication with the Primary and Middle School Principals. This is a full time position and will include determining needs, execution training and setting up a program for to continue in the future. This will be determined by the Principal, depending on who is in this position.
Coach Teachers and Other Staff
The main responsibility of this position is to coach teachers and other staff through leading a classroom with excellence. This includes helping teachers to deliver engaging lessons, write individual lesson plans, plan classroom curriculum (daily, weekly, and long-term plans), and to coach teachers in setting high behavioral and academic expectations.
This will involve creation of evaluation tools and classroom observation of teachers. This person will be responsible for sharing these evaluations with each teacher and determining areas of improvement as well as follow up with each person.
Plan and Provide Professional Development for Staff
Working together with principals, the teacher trainer will help to make a yearly professional development plan for staff. This will include training for all staff, and more intensive training for inexperienced or underperforming staff. This could include leading book discussion groups, teaching seminars, and organizing conferences.
Set Goals for Teachers and Other Staff
The teacher trainers will help teachers and other staff set progress goals for their classrooms. The teacher trainer will evaluate the current level of knowledge and expertise a teacher has and make goals based on that knowledge.
Measure Teacher and Staff Progress
As teachers and other staff develop in their teaching, the teacher trainer will measure their progress and, together with the teacher, determine where they can improve. He or she will often sit in on classes to measure teacher performance and have follow up discussions with teachers.
Report on Teacher and Staff Performance
After measuring teachers’ progress, the teacher trainer will compile reports and present them to the appropriate principal. This includes answering any questions upper management may have and presenting new strategies for improving teaching staff performance.
*Principals are responsible for formal observations and evaluations of teachers. The Teacher Trainer will be a coach and mentor to teachers, but not a supervisor.
