This groundbreaking initiative, powered by the World Digital Schools Project, is poised to redefine educational innovation across our member schools. We warmly invite school leaders, directors of technology, ICT managers, and educators to join us on an exciting expedition that promises to be the catalyst for a transformative journey in learning and teaching.

Introducing Felix Malombe: A Catalyst for Educational Innovation

Felix Malombe is a dynamic force in African education, spearheading innovation in STEAM/STEM, EdTech, and Climate Education. As the AISA Innovative Schools Programme Coordinator, he brings together diverse educational leaders to explore technology’s transformative role in 21st-century learning. Felix’s passion for educational empowerment led him to found STEAMLabs Africa, a social enterprise dedicated to equipping students, educators, and schools with cutting-edge skills and knowledge.
Currently serving as the Digital Innovation Lead at Peponi Schools in Nairobi, Kenya, Felix’s career spans several prestigious institutions, including roles as EdTech & Innovation Lead at Rusinga Schools, Technology Integration Specialist at Crawford International School-Kenya, and Technology Integrator at Hillcrest International Schools. His contributions to education have garnered significant recognition, including being named one of the Top 30 EdTech Leaders in Africa by Empower Africa in 2023. In 2022, he was a Top Ten Finalist for the Africa Education Medal, an honor bestowed by T4 Education, HP, Intel, and Microsoft. His innovative approach to STEAM education earned him a gold award at the 2019 International STEAM Curriculum Competition held in San Francisco and Shanghai.
Academically, Felix holds a BSc in Computer Engineering and a PGDE from Kenyatta University. He is currently pursuing an MSc in ICT Integration and Instructional Design at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, further solidifying his expertise in educational technology. Through his multifaceted roles and initiatives, Felix Malombe continues to shape the landscape of African education, fostering innovation and empowering the next generation of learners and educators.

Introducing the AISA Innovative Schools Programme

The AISA Innovative Schools Programme is designed to support AISA Schools through five strategic pillars:

  • Technology Leadership and Governance: This pillar focuses on enhancing technology leadership, governance, and cybersecurity across AISA member schools. Schools will benefit from resources to develop robust IT policies, emergency preparedness plans, and cybersecurity protocols, ensuring a safe and efficient digital education environment.
  • IT Policy, Strategy, and Emergency Preparedness: AISA will guide member schools in developing comprehensive IT policies and strategies, including considerations for AI and other emerging technologies. This includes participation in workshops and training sessions to enhance school leadership’s ability to manage technology effectively.
  • Fostering Research and Innovation: This pillar emphasizes the need for schools to engage in research and innovation projects that prepare students for future challenges. By participating in student-led research initiatives and innovation hubs, AISA schools can foster a culture of problem-solving and creativity that transcends traditional learning methods.
  • Community of Practice (CoP) for Tech Coordinators and Instructional Technology Coaches: AISA will provide a platform for Tech Coordinators and Instructional Technology Coaches to share best practices, resources, and collaborate on projects that enhance educational outcomes through technology.
  • Learning Powered by Appropriate Technology Integration: AISA is committed to advancing the effective integration of educational technology into teaching, learning, and assessment practices. This includes support for blended learning methods, digital assessment tools, and the improvement of technology infrastructure within schools.
