SUMMARY
The Learning to Lead workshop looks at the various aspects of leadership alongside what it means ‘to lead’. During these sessions we examine the traits, skills and styles of leadership and consider the impact of organizational culture and teaming. We then put our learning to the test through the discussion of a variety of leadership scenarios and studies.

This workshop is designed for those who are aspiring leaders, leaders who wish to ‘hone their skills’ or simply those who wish to know a little more about the various specifics of leadership regardless of their current position or any future aspirations.

  • Recognize the differences between mentoring, coaching and leading and their interplay.
  • Develop an understanding of organizational culture and leading teams.

FACILITATORS
Dr. Andy Page-Smith is currently the Director at the American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ), having previously been a school Director in Hong Kong, and Kuwait. After beginning his teaching career in Australia, he moved into the international school scene over 20 years ago, and has worked in Vietnam, Kuwait, Qatar and Hong Kong before moving to South Africa. Andy has become well known in the international sphere, regularly leads board training and strategic planning sessions, and has presented in the NESA, EARCOS and AISA regions on a broad range of topics – Service Learning, Strategic Planning, Leadership, and Coaching and Mentoring to name a few. He serves on the board of the Academy of International School Heads, and has previously worked as an adjunct professor with Lehigh University in the USA.
