Being Our Best Adult Selves
Facilitator: Jen Abrams
In our work, and at this time, it is absolutely essential that we, as the adults in schools, strive to be at our best not only with students but with each other.

Being Our Best Adult Selves

Audience Leaders

What can we do to be bigger and better versions of ourselves at work in our adult to adult interactions? What do we need to know and do? This workshop is based on Jennifer’s newest work and will look at five facets of being our best selves at work – knowing our identities, suspending certainty, taking responsibility, working interdependently, and building resiliency. Join us to consider what it means to develop our skills and capacities to become better versions of ourselves for our schools and our communities.

Session Aim

To assist participants in reflecting on and developing skills and capacities to become better versions of themselves for their schools.

Learning Objectives

  • Review research on both collective and self-efficacy and connections to student achievement and well being. Introduce Kegan’s adult developmental theory.
  • Reflect on and develop five facets of being our best selves at work – knowing our identity, suspending certainty, taking responsibility, working interdependently, and building resiliency.
