Dear AISA Community,
I am honoured and excited to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of AISA. For those whom I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, I am Elizabeth Imende, and I have been deeply involved in education for over two decades.
My journey with AISA began as a facilitator, where I was consistently inspired by the dedication, collaborative spirit, and commitment to excellence that defines this remarkable organization. It’s this passion for professional growth, good governance, and the wellbeing of our students and educators that has drawn me to this role
I am honored to be leading an organization with such a strong foundation. AISA’s extensive network, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and comprehensive professional development programs are assets that I’m eager to leverage and expand. AISA is committed to empowering educators and school leaders by fostering direct collaboration and providing year-round access to research-based resources. We both curate and create these resources to ensure they are actionable and relevant to our members’ needs. As the new Executive Director, I am dedicated to continuing this tradition and ensuring that our members have the tools and knowledge they need to create exceptional learning environments.
Looking Ahead
In the coming months, my priorities will be to listen, learn, and collaborate. I want to hear your insights, understand your needs, and work together to shape AISA’s future. I’m also eager to expand our professional development offerings, particularly through innovative digital platforms that offer greater accessibility and flexibility for our members.
My vision for AISA is one of continued growth and innovation, driven by the unique and transformative opportunity we have to educate future global leaders right here in Africa. Our students, rather than being educated solely within their home countries, have the extraordinary privilege of receiving a world-class education on a continent brimming with dynamism and potential.
Living and learning in Africa at an international school gives our students a significant advantage. They are immersed in a rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and perspectives, fostering a deep sense of global citizenship from a young age. They witness firsthand the challenges and opportunities that come with rapid development, sparking a passion for innovation and social impact. Moreover, they are surrounded by the vibrancy and resilience of the African spirit, a constant reminder of the boundless possibilities that lie ahead.
This is an exhilarating time to be living and learning in Africa. The continent is experiencing unprecedented economic growth, with several nations boasting some of the fastest-growing economies in the world. Technological innovation is thriving, with mobile penetration and internet connectivity rapidly expanding. Entrepreneurship is flourishing, creating new opportunities and transforming industries.
Our students are not just observers of this transformation; they are poised to become active participants and leaders in shaping Africa’s future. AISA is dedicated to equipping educators and leaders to cultivate the skills, knowledge, and global mindset these students need to navigate this complex and ever-changing world. We envision a future where AISA graduates are not only successful in their chosen fields but are also compassionate, ethical leaders who champion positive change and contribute to a more equitable and sustainable world.
The AISA Team
I firmly believe that education has the power to transform lives and communities. As we embark on this new chapter together, I am filled with optimism about the possibilities that lie ahead. I am incredibly fortunate to be joining an extraordinary team at AISA, both here in the Kenya office and those working remotely. Their dedication, responsiveness, commitment, and adherence to the highest professional standards are inspiring. I would also like to express my deep gratitude and respect to our dedicated Board members. As educators and administrators in AISA schools, they bring a unique blend of aspirational vision and practical wisdom to our strategic planning and governance. Their breadth and depth of experience, coupled with their selfless dedication of time and energy to this organization, is invaluable to AISA.
A World-Class Conference in a World-Class City
Don’t miss the opportunity to register for our acclaimed October conference, hosted at the prestigious Cape Town International Convention Centre. The vibrant energy, innovative spirit, and cultural richness of Cape Town perfectly mirror the essence of our gathering which promises to be an enriching and inspiring experience for all attendees.
I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming months and working together to empower educators and uplift students across the continent.
Pamoja,
Elizabeth Imende
