Governance & Leadership
AISA member schools are varied in their governance structures, but they face many of the same challenges. Frequent transitions of senior leadership roles, including board members, new members of the board with limited governance experience, few support mechanisms, school infrastructure challenges and operating environments that are unstable or hindered by weak government institutions, to name just a few.
In order to maximize student learning and to promote professional growth for staff in AISA schools, it is essential that the school functions in an effective manner, providing a stable and supportive environment, and a sound and viable school organization that ensures sustainability in the years ahead – even through the frequent changes in leadership that tend to characterize AISA schools.
Child protection must be a priority of every school. AISA has established a Child Protection Working Group that has produced resources and guidelines to help your school strengthen your child protection systems and policies.
AISA is proud to be at the forefront of promoting a culture of service-learning in all AISA member schools. Our member schools are dedicated to preparing their students to be global citizens, engaged and equipped to contribute to their community, be it at the local or global level.
AISA schools have a transient population of students and teachers with a vast array of experiences and educational needs. Blended learning helps to address these issues by providing a more individualized approach to teaching and learning while preparing our students for the future.
