Description

The purpose of the AISA Wellbeing Practice Group is to provide an online forum for anyone involved in leading student and staff wellbeing initiatives to collaboratively explore and enhance school-wide implementation and practice.

The Wellbeing Practice Group aims to:

  • Advocate for evidence-based best practices in school well-being
  • Serve as a peer network for discussing challenges, sharing advice, and exchanging support
  • Facilitate the sharing of resources, ideas, and initiatives across AISA member schools
  • Host subject matter experts to deliver training and guidance on identified areas of need
  • Promote self-care and resilience strategies for well-being leaders
  • Encourage self-reflective practices to support personal and professional growth
  • Share updates on upcoming AISA and partner professional learning opportunities and resources

    Wellbeing for All Program Coordinator

    Chanel is the Wellbeing for All Program Coordinator at AISA, where she leads initiatives in child protection, well-being, and student support. With over 20 years of international experience, she has held senior roles in aid and development organizations across Cambodia, New Zealand, the Pacific, and Kenya. Chanel specializes in developing evidence-informed approaches that address the practical needs of educators and students. She is also a registered psychotherapist in private practice in Brisbane and holds master’s degrees in Counselling and International & Community Development.

  • Shelly Maldonado
    International School of Kenya
    Elementary School Counselor

    Shelly Maldonado is currently an elementary counsellor at the International School of Kenya (ISK). She has been a school counsellor in North America, Asia, and now Africa for over a decade and has been in different educator roles within all school divisions for the past 20 years. One of her passions is building cultural awareness and competency in school communities.

    Throughout her second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, she researched and created a workshop that challenges participants to recognise hidden biases and become more responsive to students, colleagues, and school community members. Shelly has presented her workshop at several international conferences in Asia and for the entire teaching staff at ISK.

  • Priscilla Adjei-Mensah
    Al-Rayan International School
    School Counsellor

    Priscilla Adjei-Mensah is a Psychologist, Educator and Wellbeing specialist with expertise in providing technical and administrative support in educational, organisational and clinical mental health settings. She specialises in counselling, psychotherapy, program development, and employee training, with a commitment to promoting holistic well-being among children and young people.

    With educational and professional training in the UK and Ghana, she brings a wealth of academic and practical expertise in designing and implementing comprehensive, whole-school approaches to student wellbeing. Through advocacy, innovative programs, and workshops, she has helped educators foster safe and supportive environments that nurture the social, emotional, and academic development of their students.
