UNIS-UN is a two-day student devised and led conference held annually in the General Assembly Hall at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The conference focuses on a contemporary global issue selected by students, free of any national agendas and obligations, although sensitive to the value of understanding different perceptions and perspectives.

The 2021 UNIS-UN Conference title will be A Global Catastrophe: The Impacts of COVID-19 and will take place on Thursday, March 18th and Friday, March 19th

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s conference will be held fully online. One of the benefits of moving to an online format is that the spatial limitations of the General Assembly Hall is no longer a hindrance and the committee is now extending invitations to new schools from all around the world.

The 2021 UNIS-UN conference will explore the possible strategies and global collaboration that could have prevented the exacerbation of COVID-19. In addition, this conference will investigate the disparities accentuated by the pandemic, specifically in healthcare, education, and economic systems. Furthermore, participants will examine how COVID-19 has highlighted the racial discrepancies that exist in society today.
